Němetice
NĚMETICE - the part of the Kelč town

Geographical synopsis
Němetice village spreads out about 2 km north from Kelč on the north-eastern tip on the district boundary in the altitude of 367 m. The village lies on a hill from which there is a beautiful view of the Moravian-silesian Beskydy mountain range and the Hostýn hills. The northern part of the village is surrounded by the Doubrava forest.

Some facts about the establishment of the village and significant historical events
The village was settled many years ago. Findings of a bronze bracelet and ash-bin fragments are the proof. Another very interesting thing is the find of seven barrows with cord ceramics in the Doubrava forest. The dead were buried in crouched posture, ("crouched burials") and some vessels were found by them. The burial ground originates from the late Stone Age. Němetice together with Choryně village are the oldest villages supported by documents. First documented in 1131 (eventually 1141). From 1328 the village was an episcopal fief which was awarded to Vlček from Zdounky. Until the 16th century it was enfeoffed or dedicated to various proprietors. Later it passed to the possession of the Žerotín dynasty and in 1623 it was in possession of the episcopal Lordship of Kelč.

Education
A primary school was established in the village in 1888, but was closed down in 1974.
